We spent a wonderful two weeks off-season in this beautiful house. From the moment we arrived, it was so welcoming and cozily furnished that we felt right at home. The queen bed in the downstairs master bedroom was extremely comfortable. The house is filled with beautiful paintings by its former owner. It was quiet and secluded, with friendly neighbors who were welcoming but not intrusive when I met them on my morning walks through the neighborhood. The house is beautifully situated: in walking distance of Duck Pond and a short ten-minute drive to Wellfleet Center on the bay side or Great Pond and Calhoun Hollow Beach on the ocean side. Spacious counters in the kitchen if, like us, you like to cook. Many options for where to dine: at the breakfast counter, in the large dining room, or outdoors in the screened-in porch. The second floor loft is perfect for an artist or writer to use as a studio, with an attractive large architectural desk and a wall of windows overlooking pine and oak trees. There were so many birds I felt like I was at the Audubon Wellfleet Wildlife Sanctuary as I worked. The only negative was that the washer and dryer are in the basement, which makes access difficult for anyone who uses a cane or walker. Also, it was disappointing to discover in the lease that we were not allowed to use the beautiful fireplace.. But these caveats aside, it was a truly special vacation home and I would return there in a heartbeat.

125 Gov. Foss Dr. was a great spot to be accessible to the places we enjoy on the Cape: Wellfleet center and hiking trails, bike trail, Audubon and a short walk (nope, don't have to drive out on Rt. 6 all the time!) to get to the lovely, serene Duck Pond. There was just the right amount of space for what we needed.
